Meet the Secretariat

Luc Pierre- Louis, Secretary- General

Hello Delegates!

My name is Luc Pierre-Louis and I am just honored to serve as your Secretary-General for the first annual FIUMUN! Born in the beautiful Port-au-Prince, Haiti, I moved to Miami when I was eleven years old and loved it so much that I decided stay in the 305 for college! I am currently a senior studying International Relations with concentrations in Public Policy, European studies, and Latin American and Caribbean studies. When I’m not crying myself to sleep in the library writing papers and memos, I’m definitely catching up on Shameless or re-watching Gossip Girl (for the umpteenth time). Also, I enjoy venturing out into so-called “trendy” neighborhoods in my quest to find the BEST coffee shop in South Florida. At FIU, I compete with our highly-ranked Model United Nations travel team across the United States and Canada. I also intern with the International Rescue Committee which allows me to act on my passion for helping refugees and migrants in their resettlement in the United States. I look forward to shaping your delegate experience at FIUMUN in 2018 and just can’t wait to meet every single one of you in your respective committees. Fun times ahead so join us in this wild and unforgettable weekend!

Shebin George, Director- General

Hailing from Kuwait City, I am a junior at FIU, studying Biomedical Engineering with minors in Chemistry and Business. I am particularly interested in utilizing civic engagement and public policy to improve healthcare outcomes and believe that my experience as a delegate of the FIU Model UN team prepares me to be a better leader to serve my interests. Having chaired The Oster Conspiracy last year at our high school conference, FIMUN XXIX, I am excited to serve as the Director-General for FIUMUN and look forward to hosting collegiate delegates from around the country and abroad. Outside of Model UN and school, I like to spend time with friends and family, catch up on some of my favorite TV shows and reading history books.

Beeta Rezakhani, Director of Public Relations

Hello, Hello! My name is Beeta Rezakhani and I am your Director for Public Relations. Aka: I’m the one to thank when everything goes right, and the one to blame when something go wrong 🙂 I’m super excited for you all to see the new concepts we are adding to this FIUMUN (especially with all things social media related). I look forward to running around and meeting you throughout the conference.. just remember: the camera catches everything.

Zue Lopez, Director of Outreach
Mario Treto, Deputy Director of Outreach

Hello! My name is Zue Lopez, I’m a junior here at FIU  double majoring in communications and International Relations and I would like to go to law school after I graduate. I was born in Venezuela, but I have also lived in Argentina, Brazil, and, of course, am thoroughly acquainted with Miami. When I am not running around for model UN, you can find me writing, editing, and looking for stories for the FIU newspaper Panther Press, working as the Pearson campus rep here, or eating strange types of pizza. It is my belief that we can improve and expand FIMUN this year, and hope to make our inaugural conference one to remember.

Hi! I’m Mario Treto, your Deputy Director of Outreach for FIUMUN. I’m a Junior at FIU studying Political Science in the Steven J. Green School of International and Public Affairs. I look forward to graduating from FIU and continue my education at law school with a focus on Cybersecurity and Internet Usage. I was born and raised in Miami and love all things sport. I’m a die-hard Arsenal fan and I really like computers. While in high school, I never heard of the life-changing experience of participating in a Model UN program and wish I could’ve participated back then. This is why I am so excited to have the ability to share this opportunity with all of you. I want to make FIUMUN a conference where individuals from all over the country can come together to share ideas, become friends, and in the end be better people because of it. That is my goal for this conference and I will do my best to make that possible for all of the delegates attending.

Emma Loya and Mike Hernandez, Directors of Logistics

My name is Emma Loya and I am a junior studying International Relations and Asian Studies here at FIU. In my free time I am either at the gym or studying Mandarin. I am so excited to be a Director of Logistics this year for FIU’s Model UN and I look forward to helping the team make this FIUMUN unforgettable!

My name is Mike Hernandez and I attend Florida International University. I am currently pursuing a double major in Accounting and Finance expecting to graduate spring of 2019. After my time at school, I hope to become a partner at an accounting firm. In addition, I am a Miami native who enjoys fishing and playing lacrosse. Moreover, I will be one of two to lead the logistics for FIUMUN and I will ensure to each and every one of you the best experience possible. I also enjoy long walks on the beach.
